Old Lies or Truth

Posted on by

Old lies or truth, what do you listen to? Specifically what do you speak in self-talk, old lies or truth? (Note: This is a repost from earlier this year, but I need to hear it again. How about you?)

Here’s some examples of old lies and truths I’ve heard:

1. Old Lie: “You’re fat and ugly too.” This was the #1 lie I’ve heard throughout my life, a lie from Satan.                                       This picture was made in May 2013.

Truth: You’re created in God’s image. So you’re beautiful. After all, God don’t make ugly. In fact He delights in you just as you are. And He sings over you too.

The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love, He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17 NKJV

2. Old Lie: “You’re a failure. You can’t stick to a diet. You can’t do anything right. Even if you lost weight, you’ll just gain it back.” This lie competes with #1 for first place.Romans 8:28 and trust

Truth: With God on your side, you’re guaranteed victory. “Never a failure. Always a lesson.”

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 NKJV

But thanks be to God, who gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57 NKJV

3. Old Lie : You’re older now, so its harder to lose weight. After all, your metabolism has slowed down to nothing. So why try? Just quit. Eat all you want and enjoy life.

Truth: Eating, although pleasurable, is not the source of joy in life. Living in God’s Presence is the ultimate source of joy. And He will fill you with His joy, true joy unspeakable.

You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of joy in Your Presence. Acts 2:28 NKJV

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 NKJV

Old lie or Truth Does life feel like this? It’s an old lie that food will make you feel better. It’s truth that seeking God’s advice will bring peace.

4. Old Lie: Everything’s going wrong today. It seems the world is going crazy. So go ahead, eat some comfort food. Then you’ll feel better. Food is comfort and pleasure. After all, you’re under a lot of stress. So get a treat.

Truth: Overeating causes more stress. When your clothes get tight, the scales go up, and shame comes due to overeating, you have more stress.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6 NKJV

God’s Presence brings peace and victory. So what do you listen to, old lies or truth? You get to choose.

Old lies or truth This is the truth. We have victory because of Jesus.

I Can Do All Things.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

Lord, I’m sorry about my overeating.

Child, I love you.

But Lord, what about him, her, or all of them?

I love them too.

Child, yesterday you asked for a scripture to hold on to – to claim as a promise- to believe in. Here it is:

– I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

I AM on your side and I will help you because I love you. Now repeat after Me-

– I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

But Lord, what do You want me to do?

i can do all things

40 Days of Victory
Day 2

To repeat what I’ve told  you many times already. 1. Seek My will in all you do, even to what you eat. 2. Listen as I speak to your heart. 3. Follow My guidance. 4. Obey My words. 5. Trust Me for I work out all things for your good.

But Lord, even this weight gain?

Yes Child. for this weight that so easily attaches itself to you causes you to seek Me. Therefore I am working it out for your good.

Although I intend for you to have victory over this food addiction. Also know that it’s not My desire that this freedom process take you 40 years. Of course, you make that choice by your actions.

Oh Lord, the worst part is I feel that I have sinned and embarrassed You by my weight gain. I can do all things

Child, I will never give up on you. I never give up on any of My children. Rather I’m always drawing on their hearts, calling them unto Myself.

As a matter of fact, I’m calling on many hearts now to turn to Me for their victory.

My peace is their victory. I offer unto all peace of heart and peace of mind.

After all, My Love is their victory. And I offer unto all a love that cannot be erased. Therefore I will never reject or abandon them no matter what they do or say. In spite of their failures, I’ll always love them. In fact I’ll forever call on their hearts with words of My love.

Strength I offer them, not physical strength to move boulders. Instead I offer strong inner strength to withstand the pressures of life, especially when it feels overwhelming. Indeed, I am always by their side holding them up in My strength.

I Can Do The Impossible

I Can Do The Impossible

I can do the impossible. You know why? Because My Lord told me so. Here’s how the conversation went:

________________________

Lord, here I am today. Overall, yesterday was awesome. Thank you.

To begin with, thank you for the weight loss. That’s a huge surprise considering what I ate yesterday. Amazing.

Child, if only you had followed My will for your eating. Then you would have seen more weight loss.

Well Lord, what do You want me to eat today? Or do I fast today, given what all I ate yesterday?

But . . .  can I have ice cream for breakfast first?

Yes, a measured amount.

Can I have it now?

So you want to have ice cream before our time together?

How about during our time together?

Yes, you can have your way. But realize what you are choosing – ice cream – ahead of Me.

Oh Lord, I’m sorry. Help me choose You.

In fact Child, I’m trying to help you. But first, you must believe and you must change your self-talk. How many times a day do you say to yourself, “I can’t”?

A  lot.

Faith Comes By Hearing –

So haven’t you heard, “Can’t never could.”? To begin with, change your self-talk to “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. Then repeat that to yourself several times a day.

Faith comes by hearing. Change your self-talk and then listen. First of all, say to yourself, “I can do all things through Christ.” Then you can resist the stronghold of ice cream before Me.

Lord, help my unbelief.

Child, I am here for you. And yes, you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. For I am the Almighty, Most Powerful God of All, of everything. And I AM on your side helping you. Consider that. Think about that.

Yes Lord, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”.

I can do the impossible

This has always been a stronghold all my life. But no more, for I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Now I can do the impossible.

I Can Do The Impossible

. . . From where shall my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Psalm 121: 1-2 AMP

For with God nothing [is or ever] shall be impossible. Luke 1:37 AMP

But He answered me, “My grace is always more than enough for you, and My power finds its full expression through your weakness.” So I will celebrate my weaknesses, for when I’m weak I sense more deeply the mighty power of Christ moving in me. 2Corinthinans 12:9 TPT

I just want to obey all You ask of me. So teach me, Lord, for You are my God. Your gracious Spirit is all I need, so lead me on good paths that are pleasing to You, my one and only God! Psalm 143:10 TPT

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

Temptation, Lord Help Me

Posted on by

TemptationsTemptation, everywhere I look. Lord help me. Forgive my stupid sins. Help me to please You in all I do, don’t do, say, don’t say, eat, don’t eat, and even what I think, or don’t think. Fill me with a greater desire for You versus anything else, even my food. Let me feed on You Presence. Thanks for loving me even though I don’t deserve it.

Uh Lord, . . . were You ever tempted by food? Continue reading

“Break These Self-Imposed Chains”

Posted on by

Lord, would You break these self-imposed chains? You delivered me before. But now I’m entangled again in food addiction. I want my victory back. So would You deliver me again, Lord?

Lord, would You break these chains. I’m trying to eat correctly as before when I lost 90 pounds. But now I’m older (66) and my body refuses to let go of excess weight. It’s up a few pounds, down a few pounds, up and down, and so on.

So I get discouraged. Then I eat whatever. Immediately my body swells up with added weight gain. Lord, would You grant me another chance and break these self-imposed chains of food addiction?

Lord, break these self-imposed chains.

You delivered me  of 90 pounds before (at age 61). It seemed so easy then. I ate three meals a day, half-portions, and no snacks. Back then my weight dropped off. Lord, is it possible You could give me another chance and break these self-imposed chains again? What can I do?

Child, first of all, I love you as you are. But since you’re not happy with yourself, I’m going to help you again. Although there will be differences this time because. . . as you said, your body is older (approaching 67).

He will break these self-imposed chains

To begin with, you need more water. I’ve talked with you about this before. And you need to start moving more. Do some bodily movements, exercise, each day. Try 30 minutes daily. It doesn’t matter what activity you choose as long as it’s movement. The older you get the more your body needs movement just to keep those joints free.

So Lord, are You telling me to eat the same way when I lost those 90 pounds?

Yes. Just add more water and some exercise this time.

Child, to you exercise is a bad word. So from now on, call it body movement. Think of it as a graceful dance.

Lord, do You want me to start dancing to praise music?

The choice of body movement is up to you. But it’s important at your age to keep it moving to keep your joints free. It doesn’t matter what you choose, but it’s important to “move it, move it, move it.”

Those are your goals. Eat according to My past instructions, add more water, and increase your body movement.

Water is important because it lubricates your joints and keeps them fluid. It’s also good for your skin. It might even puff out of those wrinkles you stress over. (I sense He’s smiling at me.)

Hydration is good for your body. The older you get the more the water in your body dries up. So add more to keep all things moving along. You know what I’m talking about? (He’s smiling again.)

Know this Child- I love you. Now go forth in your victory. You know . . . the one I have already planned for you. (More smiling.) I’m going to do it again.

Break these self-impossed chains, please?

Never Give Up

Posted on by

“Never give up,” he said. Does it sometimes seem as though everything is going wrong? Have you ever felt like giving up?

Never give up. Remember failure is not falling down. Failure is not getting up again. And I have decided I’m getting up again. How about you?

This is a picture of my grandfather, Gardener Davis. He died in 1951. The only thing I have from him is this picture given to me by my Mother. But the greatest treasure I have from him is his statement to my Mother, which she passed on to her children, “Never Give Up.”

CRAZY ALL MY LIFE

It’s been crazy all my life. What about yours? You won’t believe what happened?  Usually I weigh myself every morning, first thing, after I wake up. So this Sunday, after waking up around 3 am. I weighed myself and the scales went up two pounds. WHAT? How can that be? I don’t believe it. It can’t be, not after all that food I did not eat! No! Can’t be, It just can’t be!

Fasting the News

img_2319Lord, I heard that others are fasting 40 days for our nation and the upcoming election. They’ll begin on September 30th and fast until November 8th. Should I fast too? If so, what kind of fasting would You have me do? I already cut my food portions in half. Do I give up desserts? Do I fast one meal a day? What kind of fasting should I do?

I have a trip planned during part of this time period. Food is a major part of this trip and I don’t want to ruin it for others traveling with me. I also don’t want them to know I’m fasting. It’s bad enough my friends watch as I cut my food in half. Then they ask if I think they should do the same. Lord, I can’t tell them how to eat. Only You can.

But what should I do about this fasting?

Do I give up television? I can do that easy. Television’s boring, although I do like my news station. I know I’ve become a news junkie with three news apps on my cell phone. I check them throughout the day and get new updates. I especially want to know about the events of this upcoming election.

But Lord, what about fasting in prayer for this nation? What would You have me to fast? What would keep me focused on prayer for this nation?

My child, . . .  you could fast the News.

Yes, that a good idea. It would improve your attitude. I’ve listened to you complaining about different news events.  I know of your constant worries over the future. Freeing your ears would eliminate your fears.

Oh Lord . . sigh. . . I’d rather give up desserts.

I don’t think I can do this. It’s just too hard. It’s an Election year!

What about Hubby? He turns on the news first thing every morning. He’s worse than me. Would you have me leave the room when he turns it on? What would that do for our marriage? I wouldn’t even be able to discuss current events with him. What would You have me do?

img_9148My child, stay in the room with him. But read your Bible, write, or pray while he’s watching the news. The people I’ve placed in your life need prayers and the needs are great.

If he discusses news with you, just listen. He will enjoy you listening. After all, you do that so little with him.

You allow the News to influence your mood for the day and you worry so much about the future. Don’t you know yet that I, the Lord and King, hold the future in My hand?

What about my blog or Facebook? Lord, are You sure You want me to fast the News? Desserts would be easier and others wouldn’t notice. Giving up the news is too hard.

My child on your trip others would notice. Besides do you think watching the news will help you make a difference in the world?

No Lord.

img_0593God's Word is encouragement!Would growing deeper in My Word help you minister to others?

I guess.

You know it would. Do you trust Me?

Lord, You know I trust You.

Do you think the world will survive without you watching every event on your television?

My child, I’ve already told you who will be the winner of this election- I AM. It doesn’t matter who sits in that chair, I am the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. I am the Winner. I am the One in charge.
