Buffets-Tools of Satan?

Buffets-tool of Satan

Buffets-tools of Satan? I think so. As I looked back over time, I then realized  weight gain started when we were on that cruise ship. All those buffets, so many options and so much food. Fill your plate. Go back for seconds. Eat as many desserts as your hearts desires. Greed is encouraged. Lord, buffets-tools of Satan? Yes, I think it’s so. Lord, what do You say?

Child, Satan didn’t create the buffet table. But he does use it to defeat those who struggle with self control over food addiction.

Lord, we went to a buffet again yesterday. Forgive me for overeating again. But  You know Lord, Hubby wanted to eat there. So it’s his fault. (Last month I wrote this in my journal. Thank God, I’m back on track with weight loss now.)

When I considered the cost of this meal, all I could think about was “Eat my money’s worth”. It was an expensive, gourmet buffet. So I ate some of everything, even several desserts.

Buffets-tools of Satan? Yes Lord, I still think so. Help me resist this temptation. But now what do I do?

Child, focus on Me. Did you stop to ask My will at that buffet?

No Sir.

I see. Why not?

My eyes were on all that food, especially the dessert table. As a matter of fact, I ate two desserts first. I wasn’t thinking. All I could focus on was the wonderful gourmet food.

That was your first mistake. You focused on the food, not your companion and certainly not Me.

Haven’t you ever heard, “Keep your eyes on the goal?” I say to you, “Keep your eyes on Me and I will see to it that you reach your goal.”

Yes Sir.

Also, when you say a prayer before your meal, ask for My wisdom. The meal time prayer is not meant to be a ritual or meaningless words due to habit. Instead, focus your mealtime prayer on seeking My will about what you are to eat. Maybe you should consider saying your mealtime prayer before you even walk up to the buffet table and allow your eyes to fill up with greed and anticipation of food pleasures.

Your mealtime prayers are actual conversations with Me. In fact your behavior has reflected your prayers have become just routine. You need to focus on seeking My will and My wisdom for your food allotment.

Remember, come to Me as your counselor. Seek My advice. Trust how I lead you. Then obey how I lead you. Also focus on how much I love you. I want what it best for you. You can trust Me.

Fill Up With His Presence, Not the Buffet.

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.      1 Corinthians 10:13

For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Hebrews 4:15

Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.  James 1:12

The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment. 2 Peter 2:9
