Got Plastered/ Holy 30 Devotional- Day 29 & 30

Posted on by

Lord, is there any hope for me? I must confess, but You saw what I did and You know. Yesterday, I got plastered, yes plastered, by my drug of choice- food. (*See note at end.)

I choose to be a vegetable yesterday, not eat vegetables, but BE a vegetable. I sat in my chair all day, watched movies , grazed in the kitchen (or my chair), and got plastered on everything I could find to eat. It’s a good thing I was too lazy to go to the store for more. Otherwise, it would have been worse.

Lord, I was so bummed out over this dog situation. I’m never praying for You to send a dog again.

Yes, be careful what you pray for. Sometimes I do give you exactly what you ask for even though it’s not the best for you, just to let you learn what is not best for you.

You asked for a dog that your husband would like. I sent you a manly dog, tough and macho. Your husband liked him, but you always had that underlying slight fear, especially when you read those bad reports about this breed.

You feared for your grandchildren feeding this dog while you were gone on your trip, which I orchestrated by the way. But I told you then, that I had shut the mouth of a lion. Then I asked did you not think I could shut the mouth of a dog too?

Yes, that gave you peace, but you can’t deny the relief you felt when you returned and saw all was safe. This dog is leaving your home because I will not have My children living in fear, no matter how unwarranted it is. Child, sometimes fear is a good thing if it is wisdom disguised as fear. But sometimes fear is sent to distract My children from My will and My love for them. Then they take their eyes off of Me and get their eyes focused on their fear instead. Didn’t one of your Presidents say these words? “We have nothing to fear, but fear itself.”

Yes, I’m giving this dog a new home, rest assured. Then you can focus on what’s left, your husband, your family, your home, the “grand-dog”, and your new assignment.

Yes, I did lead your friend to send you a text of encouragement about her earning four stars in four days, a star for each day of eating in submission to My will. Do you remember how I led you to write that?

Yes Sir.

Now I want you to return back to your starting mark again, specifically the START OVER mark. Return back to My Presence and start over again. You will return to eating food that is beneficial to your body and turn away from this useless, unnecessary food. You will also learn a new way of cooking to benefit your husband. He will lose weight too. Oh, and the grand-dog, Willow, will lose weight as well. Remember how the vet told you that the best thing you can do for this dog is to stop feeding him.

I say stop over feeding him, your husband, your family, and especially yourself. Extra food is not your friend. No, it is your enemy. Extra food steals your victory and leaves you defeated and discouraged. So why do you run to food for comfort?

Now today is a new day. No longer will you say, “I got plastered.” No longer will you turn to food for comfort. Now walk in the path I have prepared for you, which by the way does not include your television.

Note: This post was written earlier this week. For more information, see the previous post. This post is part two of that story.

At this time life is so much better. Eating is under God’s control now. He is a good God and patient too.

The pit bull was adopted by some relatives of one of our friends. They have 3 acres of land for him to run in. We only have a small suburban yard. His new family stays in contact with me about how’s he doing. They even sent me pictures. It seems all is happy especially the dog.

Holy 30 Devotional

**This short devotional, “Holy 30” (See picture of Day 29 & Day 30) is based on I Peter 1:16. First Baptist of Tillman’s Corner published this devotional. I didn’t write any of it, but I do have permission to share it with you. These are the last two entries of this devotional.

If you would like some additional information about our church check out this website:    http://www.fbtc.org/ . You can also listen to some sermons from our pastors. Enjoy them, I do.

This is the last of the Holy 30 devotional.

Be blessed My Friend,

Tasting His Sweetness

Lord, I’m declaring today “Day One” of a my new maintenance plan. I want to finish losing this weight. It would be nice to say, “I’ve lost a 100 pounds,” but I know it’s just a number. Right now it seems I gained two pounds. Sigh.

My fingers are swollen and I feel fat. I weighed after my usual cups of coffee. Wait, . . .  I weighed after drinking a pot of coffee. I should have known better. Sigh. IMG_4314

img_8506Help me to walk in victory, victory in obedience to You and what You say, victory over food, and victory over the words and thoughts that pop in my head.

Lord, thank You for being my friend and helping me as I go forth. Direct me as how to please You in all I say and do. And yes, I am hungry for more of You. Teach me how to get full of You and all You have for me. Lord, fill me with Yourself.

This is my plan for my eating today, “Wait until I am hungry.” It seems logical, but Lord, I know what seems logical to us is not always logical to You. So, is this Your will for me?IMG_4304

You may try this for today.

Lord, I don’t think I’ve been overeating.  (Eat only three meals with half-servings and no snacks.) Yes, I’ve stuck to the rules, but maybe I’ve eaten too many half-servings. Too many half servings is still too much even if it is a half serving. I know two halves make a whole serving and four halves make two full servings. Sigh. . . . img_7617

Lord, I want You.

My child, I AM here.  img_8424

Lord, I want You.

I AM here.

Thank you. Lord, I want a “new” with You. Grant me a “new” beginning.  Fill me with a new filling of You. I want the sweetness of You. I have tasted the sweetness of crème filling, but I want to taste more of Your sweetness. That is sweeter.

My child, I AM here and I will fill  you with Myself. Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.

IMG_3241Lord, I praise you for all these clothes that are now too big for me, 41 pieces total. Wow!  Now I have the joy of giving them away or trading them for new ones at the consignment shop. I do enjoy shopping for new clothes. You give me all that I need and for  a price I can afford too.  Thank you. Continue reading

MR. POSSUM IS BEAUTIFUL, YOU TOO

IMG_3024-3.PNG

Picture from “Google”. The possum in the story never came back. I hurt his feelings.

Last night, I looked out the back door, stepped forward, then backward to look again. What is that? I stared in amazement. It’s a possum, eating my cat’s leftovers.       I opened the door and turned on the light to get a closer look. His snout is long  and pointy, his hair looks greasy and his tail looks scraggly with a kink . For a few minutes, he ignored me as he continued to eat without looking up.

I yelled, “Get away, get out of here.” He looked at me, slowly slunk under the lounge chair to hide and waited. I yell, “You’re ugly, you know that. Get out of here.” He slowly wobbled under another chair. I continued,  “You’re so ugly. Do you even know how ugly you are?” He hung his head as he slunk toward the end of the patio. I wonder if he understood what I said. Then I shut the door without bothering to see where he went. I guess he’ll finish the cat food after I turn the light out.

I Deserve More, You Deserve More.

IMG_2936Seeing this sign made me angry. My first thought was “No, I deserve more ‘life’ than a cookie.” The advertiser implied that because I’m good I deserve a cookie. I differ in opinion; I am incapable of ‘being good’ enough. Also, it was too many cookies, and other excesses, that took away the quality of my life, my relationship with God, and stole my victory.

But God had a better plan for my life, more than cookies. I don’t deserve His love, He loves me anyway. I don’t deserve His blessings, but He chooses to bless me with the reward of His love. Cookies don’t give us life, God does. Without Him, I am nothing.

God has a better plan for your life too, more than cookies. That’s for sure. You deserve more than cookies. See the truth, hear the whispers of His love calling unto you.

My child, I do have plans for your life, plans for a hope and a future. Come to Me, seek My face for I have more sweets waiting for you than what you’ll find in a cookie jar. I plan on filling you with the sweetness of My love and My forgiveness. As you look to Me, I will direct your steps to your personal victory, the one I have planned for you alone. Today, seek My instructions and follow them with each step you take. Know that I have victory waiting for you. Cookies cannot bring you peace, strength, wisdom, comfort, and certainty not victory. Taste the sweetness of My love, for only I hold your victory in My hand. Come to Me and receive what I have for you, the free unmerited favor of My love.

You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures evermore. Psalm 16:11

For whoever find Me finds life, and obtains favor from the Lord. Proverbs 8:35
