“Seeking God’s Presence for Weight Loss” is a new weight loss support group starting at our church. I think this name may be too long, do you have another suggestion? Let me know.
It’s exciting to have another opportunity to share with others how God delivered me with a 90+lbs. weight loss. Can’t wait to start the class next Sunday.
Drum roll please. . . . Lesson plans and worksheets are in the process of being written now by yours truly. If you’d like a copy, just let me know.
I want to help others find victory and freedom in their weight loss. If God helped me, He’ll help others. If He helped me, He’ll help you too.
This was my presentation speech to the church:
“When you eat of Him, you are completely satisfied. But also, when you eat of Him, you are hungry for more.” Quote from Dr. Greg Pouncy
I tried to lose weight using every man-created diet I knew. I failed every diet for 41 years. Weighing 241 pounds, I cried out to God, “Do I need to go to a counselor? I can’t stop eating.”
He answered, “I am your counselor. Come to me. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go. I will guide you with My eye. (Psalm 32:8)
God is the greatest counselor. He knows your future and He has a plan for your life. He even has a food plan for you too. Your part is to learn to surrender, trust, and obey His guidance.
Food is not our enemy, self is. We have a desire for abundant food pleasure. God wants to be your pleasure. We run to food for comfort. God is the greatest comforter.
Man-created diets never worked for me. It was “self” that needed to be defeated. Only God is stronger than “self”, but you have to be willing to surrender to His will for your eating.
If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself.” (Luke 9:23)
When your fist is closed and you’re holding on to something, you can’t receive. But when you let go and open your hand, you can receive. As we learn to let go of extra food, then we can receive what God has for us- our victory.
“If we surrender to Him, He will help us grow stronger. When you yield to Him, He strengthens you.” Dr. Greg Pouncy
