“I don’t understand myself at all, for I really want to do what is right, but I can’t. I do what I don’t want to – what I hate. I know perfectly well that what I am doing is wrong, and my bad conscience proves that I agree with these laws I am breaking. But I can’t help myself, because I’m no longer doing it. It is sin inside me that is stronger than I am that makes me do these evil things. Romans 7:15-17 TLB**
. . . . No matter which way I turn I can’t make myself do right. I want to but I can’t. When I want to do good, I don’t. and when I try not to do wrong, I do it anyway. Romans 7: 18-19 TLB**
Lord, can You save me? I know that I ran to the food for emotional comfort! I feel so enslaved by this food! Lord, I want freedom from this bondage! I do want to serve You! I do want to do the right thing! But I have no power to help myself at all! Everything looks as if I have lost this battle!
(My child, it looked that way on the cross too!)
But Lord, You were sacrificing Yourself due to Your love for others. I am losing to gluttony and defeat! It looks as though I have lost it all!
(My child, how many times have I told you, “Don’t look at what you see; LOOK AT ME!” All is not lost, for you have Me and hope, you have Me and faith, for I am with you! Yes, I will help you!)
But Lord, why would You be with me? I am so full of sin, full and bloated by the sins of last night, last week, last month, and last year too! Why would You choose to help me?
(My child, I love you and I have plans for you. I will set you free and you will help others. Yes, you have found your place-this “Celebrate Recovery” program is for you and you will heal as you serve others.)
“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26 NIV
