COOKIES, OH MY!

[ Written from the past. Praise God, He has delivered me from  27 pounds since               May 23, 2013.]

A dish of homemade cookies.

Lord, did you see all those cookies I ate last night?

(Yes, I did.)

Lord, everyday I start eating correctly, then by bedtime I have eaten everything I can get my hands on! Sometimes I even get in the bed eating!

(I see.)

Lord, will I ever stop?

(Yes, you will.)

How Lord, how?

(Through My Spirit, you can only find freedom through Me.)

Lord, I have tried. I only last about a week, then back to the feeding trough I go!

(My child, I offer unto you ‘abundant life’. You have chosen ‘short term pleasure’. Do you want ‘abundant life’ or ‘short term pleasure’?

Lord, I want ‘abundant life”, but how do I get it?

(Abundant life comes only through My Spirit. My child. You run to food for comfort to ease your wounded emotions, your broken heart, and your fears of the future.)

Yes Lord, I know this and I have tried to turn away from this sin of gluttony so many times before and yet, I have failed over and over. At times I feel trapped in this compulsion to overeat!

(Only through My Spirit, My child, will you ever be free.)

. . . . “Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of Hosts.                         Zechariah 4:6 NKJV

Alright Lord, this is early morning, I always start the day out right, but how am I going to make it through the night-time grazing hours?

(Through My Spirit.)

Alright Lord, I hear what You are saying, but I don’t understand! I have had accountability partners, I have put a Bible on my kitchen table, and I have tried all kinds of diets which included writing down everything I ate. Nothing worked! It seems that everywhere I turn is food and more food! I feel as though I am drowning in food! Even when I really don’t want it,  I eat it anyway! Lord, there are no easy answers, if there were, I would have already found it!
