Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left. Isaiah 30:21 NKJV

Lord, they lied to me and I repeated it. I thought it was the truth. Now what do I do? I’m disappointed, frustrated, confused, and embarrassed. I told everyone what they said and it was a lie.
My child, you place so much importance on that box with numbers. You determined your food choices based on those numbers. I want you to learn to listen to My voice instead.
If you’ll listen and follow My way, then you’ll see the results you want without stress or worry. Let Me determine your food choices.
I had rewards for you which you forfeited when you chose to seek affirmation from that box with numbers instead of coming to Me for your affirmation. One of your rewards would have been continued weight loss.
I put my hand up to my mouth and wanted to cry.
You let the numbers on that box decide you could eat more desserts. I tried to warn you about so many desserts. Yes, you obeyed by only eating half, but you ate too many halves. I spoke to your heart about it, but you continued on due to the numbers you saw on that box.
My child, if only you had listened to My voice.
Lord, you’re so right. Will I ever learn? Will I always struggle with this temptation?
You’ll learn for I AM your teacher and all my students succeed in victory. I did not destroy your rewards. I’m holding them in my hand until you are ready.
For now I’m teaching you through the discipline of consequences. These are hard lessons, but as you learn to yield yourself to My guidance and direction your rewards will come.
Thank you Lord for Your patience with me. Help me to follow Your instructions. I’m grateful You didn’t give up on me. It seems I’m always messing up.
I never give up on any of My children. Seek no other source for your affirmation. Seek Me and I’ll never lead you wrong.
Lord, thank you for Your mercy. I give myself to thee. Help me to hear Your words, to listen, and obey.
My child, I discipline those I love. These hard lessons are for your benefit. You will grow stronger with each lesson. Eventually you will achieve victory for I will give it to you.
Remember to look to Me for I am Your source of strength.

The Lie:
I spent two months in Texas with Hubby on his temporary work assignment. My car was at home so I walked everywhere. I walked to clothing stores, coffee shops, my favorite deli, and the most important place of all – the grocery store. I fell in love with this grocery store. The produce section was the largest and freshest I have ever seen.
After a couple of weeks, I wanted to weigh myself and started looking for scales. After all this walking I should be losing a lot of weight. I looked for scales at the drug store. They cost $20.99. The Lord spoke to my heart then, “Are you going to spend $20 instead of trusting Me?” So I didn’t buy them.
The drug store clerk told me the grocery store had some free public scales. That wonderful grocery store has everything I need. So I walked to the store, found the scales, and put my quarter in.
“What? Wow!” I was thrilled with delight. These scales showed that I had lost another 10 pounds. I shared my success with anyone who would listen. Now I’ve lost 91 pounds. Wow!
Once a week I’d walk to that grocery store around 7 A.M. before breakfast just to stand on those wonderful scales. One morning I even walked to the store to weigh myself during the approaching Tropical Storm Bob. On my way back to the hotel, I got rained on and all wet. All the way back, the Lord was speaking to my heart, “You need to trust Me, instead of those scales.”
I love desserts and the scales said I lost 10 lbs. So I ate a half dessert after every meal, even breakfast. When Hubby and I went out to eat, we always split a dessert. My dream had come true, weight loss and dessert. Wow! All this time God was speaking to my heart, “Trust Me.”
When we returned home I immediately went to my home scales to weigh. “What? How can this be? These scales aren’t showing the ten pound loss. They’re wrong.”
On the way home, we took a side trip to Oklahoma to visit grandchildren. I ended up riding in the car for three days before arriving home. I didn’t drink enough water, so maybe it’s water weight gain from the long car ride.
I have a doctor’s appointment next week. I’ll check their scales. These home scales have to be wrong. After all that walking, there is no way I stayed the same weight as when I left.
(I checked my home scales at doctor’s office. Yep, they’re right. The 10 lb. loss on the store scales was a lie. But after a couple of weeks at home listening and obeying how God told me to eat I have lost another 3 lbs. So now the total weight loss is 84 pounds, not 91. Sigh. This was a hard lesson to learn, one I will never forget. As long as I listen to God more victory will come. The next time I say I’ve lost 91 pounds, it will be true.)
