Celebrate National Food Day

Celebrate National Food Day

October 24 was “National Food Day.” The newscaster on television said so. After I heard that good news, I got all excited about a day to celebrate food. Wow! What a wonderful idea. How can I celebrate? Celbrate National Food Day

So . . . after thinking about it, I came up with an exciting plan to celebrate. It’ll surprise you. So . . . can you guess what I did to celebrate?

Are you sitting down? To celebrate “National Food Day,” I chose not to eat. Yes, that’s right, I chose NOT to eat. Because food addiction, or rather the compulsion to overeat, had defeated me most of my life I decided to fight back.

Food addiction has forced me many times to overeat when I didn’t want to. And since I want to break free from this stronghold in my life, I decided not to feed it.

And guess what happened? I felt free all day. Although I did eat supper, it was healthy food.  Freedom tastes so good. Celebrate National Food DayI had been praying seeking God’s help to deal with this compulsion to overeat. Then the answer came through a news report. Go figure.

If only you could understand the peace and strength God provides. You can find assurance, confidence, and victory knowing He is on your side. Even with all our flaws and failures, He still reaches out to us in love.

Some people think that being a Christian is all about religion and rules. Not so. Being a Christian is all about freedom, peace, and blessed assurance. True happiness is found in God’s Presence. Try it, you’ll like it.

“Listen to my testimony: I cried to God in my distress and He answered me. He freed me from all my fears! Gaze upon Him, join your life with His, and joy will come. Your faces will glisten with glory. You’ll never wear that shame-face again, When I had nothing, desperate and defeated, I cried out to the Lord and He heard me, bringing His miracle-deliverance when I needed it most. Psalms 34:4-6 TPT
