Good morning Lord. Here I am before You again asking for forgiveness for my same old sin, because I ate too much again last night at supper.
(My child, do you want freedom once and for all from this bondage?)
Yes Sir.
(Then turn away from this sin. Turn away from the abundant food.)
But how Lord, for I am so weak!
(No, My child, you have the sacrifice of My blood and My blood is strong. Now turn away.) Romans 5:6-9
But Lord, I overeat without even thinking, or at the time even comprehending until it is too late and I become bloated.
(My child, let go.)
Read Luke 4:1-13.
Lord I feel as though I am in a wilderness now and I am not overcoming these tests victorious at all. Instead, I feel like I am the same as the Israelites lost in their desert walk for 40 years. God, help me turn away from this sin that so easily defeats me!
Philippians 3:19 NKJV- Whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame who set their mind on earthly things.
Lord, I don’t want my belly for my god, but I want You for my God! Lord, I choose You! Lord, what are my ground rules, for I am failing all the tests? Lord, separate me from this false god. Make me strong to resist.
(My child, you become stronger as you resist. With each victory comes more strength.)
But Lord, when faced with food, I rationalize without really thinking, “its ok, a little won’t hurt, it’s sugar-free, you haven’t eaten much today, or you fasted yesterday”.
Hebrews 4:15 NKJV- For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
I Corinthians 10:13 NKJV- No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make a way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
Lord, You fed the Israelites “manna” in the desert. Would You feed me? Lord, show me what to do and how can I be “fed” by You.
(My child, eat My Word.)
How Lord?
(Feed on it.)
Lord, I can read and study it, but how do I “feed” on it?
(Make “My Word” your priority in life, not just your “quiet time” reading in the morning, but make “My Word” your meal time also.)
Alright Lord, am I to read Your Word before every meal?
(Try it , My child. Jesus fasted for 40 days in His wilderness, you feed on My Word for 40 days in your wilderness. Put a Bible on your kitchen table and read it before every meal. You already have a New Testament in your purse, read on the way when you go out to eat. My son defeated the enemy with these words, “It is written”. You also, My child, will defeat the enemy with “It is written”. Luke 4:4
