Weight Loss With God

Before picture-2013- weighed 241 lbs.

Before seeking God’s help- 2013-weighed 241 lbs…

“Weight Loss With God” contains many of my counseling sessions/ conversations with God about my excess weight and the overwhelming compulsion of food addiction

After 41 years of struggling (by May of 2013), I weighed 241 pounds. Not only was I totally discouraged, but in fact I just gave up on myself.

But God didn’t give up on me.  Through His grace and mercy, I’ve lost 90+/- pounds. Compare the before picture taken in 2013 to my new profile picture.

Weight loss with God

Weight loss with God on your side works.

With God’s help, I’m in a process of healing. Choose to give God your struggles. Since He has all the answers, he’ll grant us victory as we seek Him.

For many years I wrote my prayers to maintain my focus and release stress. These prayers were written as dialog with God. Overall I’d write my concerns, questions, and then write the answers just as He spoke to my heart.

I have gained, lost, and regained over 60 lbs. several times throughout my lifetime. Now I am in the process of surrendering this food addiction to God’s control and He has my victory in His hand.

I believe God speaks to all His children in different ways. With me, He speaks both in my heart and in my writings.

It’s my hope and prayer that my counseling sessions with God will encourage you in your own journey of breaking free from food addiction.

I hope you’ll also begin your own personal conversations with God. Let Him speak to your heart too.

I believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins. And He rose again on the third day so we could have a “new” life both here on Earth and later in Heaven. He came to give us abundant life, not abundant size.

I also believe my overeating (gluttony) is a sin (addiction) that’s held me in bondage with a constant struggle for all my adult life.

This addiction, like all addictions, has prevented me from living a life to my fullest potential.

I’ve always felt controlled and defeated by this overwhelming compulsion to overeat. This compulsion, at times, has damaged both my confidence and my potential. But now, I’m losing weight with God’s help.

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10

BUT I know that Jesus Christ has come to set me free! HE IS THE ANSWER! Losing weight with God on your side brings victory to overcome your struggles

As I surrender the control of my life and desires to His direction and His will, He will set me free from all addictions! He keeps His promises and He’ll make you free too!

FEED ON THIS

”My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” John 10:27

Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. John 8:36

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.           1 Corinthians 15:57

 YOUR VICTORY IS COMING!!!

  8. Hello, Deb. I decided to follow your blog, because you have given me some hope that I might be able to take off some 50 pounds of extra week in the last 8 years. I’ve also struggled with dieting for all my life and I get so frustrated at times. Now that I’m over 70, all this extra baggage is tiring me out. I still lead an active lifestyle. I work as an instructor of drama, writing and public speaking, but most of my time is spent sitting down. I know my metabolism has also slowed down so that doesn’t help. I am looking forward to reading your stories and maybe gain some insight on how I can accomplish what you have. Thanks for reading my post as well.

    • All I know is if God can do this for me, He will for you too. Glad to have you.

      • I appreciate your confidence. I know that all things are possible through Him. I just need to get my mind in the right place when it comes to food. Thanks!

        • Surrender is the key to victory. Subscribed to your blog. Just can’t read for now, on the way to church& hubby already said “Get off that phone” ha ha ! God bless you.

  14. Hi Deborah, thanks for visiting my blog and liking my post on my new year’s resolutions, fitness being one of them. Fitness and fat loss! Congratulations on your weight loss, it’s very inspiring. 🙂

  15. Congratulations on your continued weight loss! Keep up the wonderful work!

    • Thank you. I started in 2010 and stopped later. Then in May of 2013, I started again with God’s help. He granted me victory!

  16. I will pray for you. Just try to let go and let God. I don’t diet at all. I just try to wait until my stomach growls before I eat anything. I am “dieted” out, therefore I refuse to weigh and measure, or eat veggies all the time. My husband and I tried the low carb diet recently, but we both gained back immediately after returning to our normal way of eating. A friend, whose wife had gastic bypass, told me, “It don’t matter what you eat, just eat a lot less of it.” That is mainly what I am doing. I allow myself a sweet now and then. Yesterday, I only ate one M&M and it satisfied me.
Mainly, the Lord told me, “Eat only three meals a day, and half servings. Consult Me about everything!” So that it what I am trying to do. When the temptation gets really bad, I pray a lot, type on the blog, and chew gum. I also drink a lot of hot tea. I will pray for you. Concentrate on seeking God about what to eat, and donate the “fee” to God’s ministry. Watch and see what God will do. The main thing is submmission to His will and the surrender of our desires. We have to die to self-gratification. Also, I have learned that if I wake up empty, I have lost weight. Therefore, I try not to overeat at night. Read Psalm 32:8. Allow God to lead you. Know that He will.
I will pray for you. Let me know of your success. I expect to lose weight during this holiday season and that will be another gift from God. It will also be a gift that I give myself. You know what, this act of obedience brings me more confidence in my prayer life because I am also concentrating on obedience to God. I am not always obedient, but I am trying and God is blessing my efforts. When I know I mess up, I always pray and ask God to forgive me and help me start over. Pslam 51.
    God’s Blessings to You,
    Debbie Crocker

  17. Hi Deb,
Y’all do not know me, but I am a sister in Christ like yourself who also struggles with her weight. I am good friends with Jan Meador. We met at a HOLY CONVOCATION in 2003 and have talked over the phone and internet ever since. One of these days I am going to surprise her and visit. I have been on Weight Watchers since last Feb. I am down 25pounds, but am stuck in a rut so to speak. I want to eat my old way but know in my heart I can not. I am suppose to track all I eat, yet I don’t . I will be going to be weighed in tomorrow Tue. they have a whole new program they will be sharing, I am anxious to learn more, but do not want to obsess about my weight. I use to go to a very good meeting, but it turned out the teachers was into witchcraft and new age garbage, so I changed meeting, this group is kind of dead. I miss my original group.
I just figured I would gain after Thanks giving. Please pray that I would get serious again, and track all I eat. I will be praying for you, God Bless,
    Geralyn M Hampton…. from California
