Celebrate – Holy 30 Devotional** – Day 9 & Day 10

Posted on by

Lord, we can understand to celebrate our blessings, but as compulsive over-eaters, this scripture encourages us to eat fat and drink sweet. (What about eating sweets?)  Isn’t this just waving a red flag in front of us? Are You giving us permission to overeat?

Lord, for me this is the most difficult devotional for one thing I’m struggling with compulsive overeating now, and the first thing I read is, “Go . . . eat. . .”

Child, food is not bad. It’s good to celebrate events by sharing a meal together in fellowship. I never said, “Eat until you’re bloated.” I was encouraging My people to celebrate with joy, not joy in the food, but joy in My Presence, and joy in My blessings, for the joy of the Lord is your strength. I am your strength.

Turn your eyes from the food. Look for those who have none and share My blessings with one another. Be filled with My joy, not your abundant food. Celebrate My love.

He that is in you is greater than he who is in the world, greater than the food in the kitchen, the drive-up, the snack machine, and the restaurant menu. he that is in you  is greater than all these. Look to Me for your strength.  Trust Me.

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4

The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise Him. Psalm 28:7

Lord, sometimes I feel like there is trouble everywhere I look.

My child, you worry too much. Remember “Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.” Praise Me for your victory.

But thanks be to Jesus Christ who has given us the victory. 1 Corinthians 15:57

Victorious – All Mine Are Victorious, Including You.

“Victorious, all of Mine are victorious, including you.”

Lord, I overate last night. Why? Why am I doing this? I don’t want this behavior, I want to walk in total victory to show others how You give victory. Today I feel like a hypocrite. I’m so embarrassed before You.

Child, not only can you not control others, but you can’t control yourself either. So why do you keep trying? Just let go and trust Me. When was the last time you waited before eating to seek My will?

Uh. . . .

If you wait, listen for My voice to guide  you, and walk in My directions for your day, then you will have victory. Quit holding on to what is not good for you, whether it’s unnecessary food, worry, doubt, or fear.  Let go of all that is in your hand. Allow Me to take this weight of burdens heavy on your back.  Give it all to Me. Do you remember your goals for this year, trust, listen, wait, let go, and pray?

Child, it seems you have wandered off the path and gotten distracted by many things. Fix your eyes and your heart on Me for I am your King and your Source of all you need, whether it’s finances, strength, wisdom, peace, or even faith. I can provide all you need.

For now, just focus on the joy of My Presence and allow Me to take care of all the rest of your concerns. If you focus on My Presence, you will be filled with My joy and that can enable you to survive the struggles of life. Being filled with My joy guarantees joy victory no matter the circumstances for I am victory. I delight in bringing victory to what looks like defeat. To the world My cross looked like defeat, but to Me, My cross brought victory, for I am victory.  I love you, child, and I give to you the gift of victory, victory over your sins, victory over defeat, victory over worry, and victory over fear. I am victorious, therefore all of Mine are victorious, including you. 10-14-16 072

Don’t look at what you see, instead look at Me.  How many times have I spoke to  you about this?

Uh. . . .

When your eyes are on the circumstances, you see overwhelming mountains of possible defeats everywhere you look. But when your eyes are on Me, you see My victory and therefore your victory as well. For I freely give to those I love, who are Mine, a life of victory no matter the circumstances.

Yes, there is victory even in death. The world sees death as the end of life, but through Me, death is the beginning of life.

Yes, there is even victory in suffering.

Lord, that’s one I question You about. How can there be victory in suffering?

Child, I am there with them, right by their side. I am closer to those suffering than those who are not. For I suffered the greatest suffering on My cross and I know their pain. Therefore I am closer to those suffering and I hold them in  My arms until I take them home to be with Me in Paradise. They are the victorious.

Lord, I’m ashamed because I  struggle with cake, ice cream, and cookies. Oh, and credit cards too. Please forgive my silly , whiney, stupid ways. Help me to follow You completely in all I say and do. Renew my mind so it seeks Your will above all else, for nothing else matters. Only You matter. Lord, I want more of You.

Child, the way to get more of Me is to give yourself to Me completely. Allow Me to have control of all of you. Give up your dreams, your wishes, and your desires. Desire Me above all else, and I will take care of all else.

Here I am Lord. I give myself to You. Do with me as You wish. Fill my heart  and my mind with Yourself. I want to be Yours.

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:57
Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, The power and the glory, The victory and the majesty; For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, And You are exalted as head over all.
1 Chronicles 29:11
So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory. O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?”  1 Corinthians 15:54-55

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 1 John 5:4

Listen Carefully

Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good. And let your soul delight itself in abundance. Isaiah55:2NKJV

____________________

Lord, I didn’t listen very well last night. You know it and I know it. Technically I did follow Your directions. Do I get credit for that?

It happened just as I finished my meal. The ladies at the church pot luck were cleaning the tables. They asked if anyone wanted the last bit of leftover pasta salad. If not, they’d throw it away. I thought, “That’s too good to throw away. It’s has bacon in it, it’s just one serving.” So I stood by the garbage can and ate it out of the pan using a plastic spoon.  Should’ve let them throw it away.

The story of Saul teaches us about partial obedience, which is really no obedience. Yes, I resisted all those yummy desserts at the pot luck, didn’t eat any of it. Does that count for something? IMG_1206

Lord, You stirred in my heart to throw away the leftover pasta salad. But did I listen? No, I finished it off. Saul didn’t listen, and neither did I.

Here I am now with a bloated belly and weight gain. I’ve gone 40 days without desserts or southern fried foods. Then on day 40 I mess up, not with desserts or fried foods, but leftover pasta salad. Do You think we could count that as a salad? Would that work? Sigh. Probably not.

Lord, it’s my heart that loves and desires abundant food. Remove this love of food from my heart. Help me to love You more than anything. Help me to listen.

I won’t blame You if You don’t talk to me anymore for I am undeserving of Your voice. I’m supposed to help others and look at me with my face in the pasta bowl. img_0601

Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live. And I will make an everlasting covenant with you.   Isaiah 55:3

Lord, I want Your Presence. Help me to turn away from even my necessary food. Help me  to seek Your will for every bite, every action, every word, and even every thought.

My thinking has been stinking lately. Renew my mind, make it seek after You and Your will above all.

Lord, what can I do?

Nothing My child, just seek Me first. Your eating has become automatic. In the beginning you were aware and sought Me continuously. Now you mostly eat on automatic.

Lord, I feel as though I’m on the fence teetering about to fall.

My child, you are straddling the fence.

What do I do now? How can I change my life to please You more? How can I walk in the shadow of Your Presence? I can’t help others if I’m standing in the mud. I feel as though I’m at a new bottom covered in mud, confused about which direction to take.

Lord, where am I?

img_0617My child, you’re standing at the end of the middle. Success isn’t found in the middle, hence your confusion, not knowing which way  to go.

But Lord, where do You want me?  Do I stand here waiting not moving until I know that I know?

My child, first you have to listen. Then obey Me in the small things. I need to know I can trust you in the small things before I trust you with the big tasks. For instance, you knew to throw away that pasta. David emptied out the water as a sacrifice. You could have emptied out that leftover pasta. You made your choice, disobedience and consequences. img_8833

Lord, I’m sorry I let You down.

My child, choose obedience to Me over all and I will never lead you wrong. Trust img_0300.jpgMe to guide your steps and you will have victory. It may not be the same victory of others, but it will be the victory I have designed just for you. Will you trust Me?

Lord, You know I trust You.

My child, will you trust Me even when you are holding leftover pasta in your hand? Will you be willing to let it go?

Oh Lord, I wish I could go back and relive that moment. I would throw it away.

My child, you can never go back. What is done is done. Now I have to adjust My plans according to your actions for I will never go against one’s will. All are free to choose their way, their choice. You chose the pasta versus My will.

Yes Lord, punish me. I deserve it.

Yes, My child, you do deserve it. But I’m not going to punish you for I have already taken the punishment for you. I have already set you free. I have already prepared your victory over sin. My child, all you have to do is look at Me, seek Me for I will never lead you wrong. And no, You’re not getting by. Natural consequences will come. They always come. I won’t go against the laws of nature that I set in motion so long ago. You see, I am hindered by your will.IMG_2463

Lord, what do I do?

Focus on Me, look to Me, listen, and obey what I tell you. Don’t argue with me. You know you argue. You tell me deep within your spirit that this time it’s okay. My child, disobedience is never okay. No matter how minor you perceive it.

Lord, I’m sorry. Now what do I do?

You can’t go back to undo what is done.IMG_2338

I know, so what do I do now?

Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you. . .  Isaiah 55:3

Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55: 6-9

My child, take each day as it comes.

TIBITS/ HELPFUL HINTS – WHAT I LEARNED ON MY WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY

(Disclaimer: I’m allowed sweets on my food plan though I can only eat half or less. The following list explains how I eat my sweets. I do find it interesting that since I’m allowed sweets, they just don’t entice me as they once did. Don’t get me wrong. I do love my deserts, but they no longer call my name. Sometimes I’m just not interested. Imagine that. God has set me free.

I do apologize to my friends that are on restricted diets for one reason or another. God gave me a food program I could live with for the rest of my life. He has a plan for you too. IMG_9469Everyone is different. This is just what worked for me. It was a slow process, but it was the easiest process for me. God knew I couldn’t stick to a diet after 41 years of dieting failures. So He gave me a plan I could stick to, which included some sweets.) Continue reading

20130411-094416.jpg  Lord, I’m so afraid of those scales. Tomorrow is “weigh” day and I’m scared. I can’t take it anymore.

My child, know that your worth is  not determined by the number on a machine. I created you and you’re worth so much more. I gave My life for you, therefore you are truly valuable indeed. Trust Me. Continue reading

AMAZING SHOCK! WOW!

IMG_3869I wouldn’t eat Christmas candy until the family gathering on December 21. Then I ate one piece of white candy, one piece chocolate,  one cookie, and one cookie candy. According to the plan the Lord gave me I can have desert, but only half. Since in my past I would binge on candy by the handfuls, I concluded that one piece of each kind is a half serving.

My usual weigh-in day is Sunday, but Saturday I decided to just take my punishment and get over it.       I expected to gain 2 pounds or more. Taking a deep breath, I stood on the scales. Continue reading

Victory Over Christmas Candy

Taken at First Baptist of Tillman’s Corner

Lord, my niece asked me to make her favorite Christmas candy for our family gathering. Sigh. It’s made of sugar, and more sugar. I boil it and beat it with the mixer, then by hand. Then I put the nuts in it and drop it by the spoonful on wax paper.

You know how much I love this candy and I make it every year at Christmas.  I’m the best I know of at making this candy. It turns out perfect every time, even when it rains. It  just melts in your mouth. Everyone says it’s the best they have ever tasted.  Did You give me this talent? Why would you give me a talent for making wonderful candy if You knew I would have a food addiction? Continue reading
