[ Just after such a wonderful conversation with my Lord, I went to the restroom. I know . . . this is just too much information! But afterwards, I decided to weigh myself just one more time only to see if I now weighed less since I had gone to the restroom. In hindsight, I now realize that my thinking is just warped due to this bondage of the scales and compulsive overeating. But I do want to say, that probably everyone trying to lose weight has done this at one time or another. Then immediately after I weighed myself for the second time, the Lord and I had another heart-to-heart discussion. But this time, it was not praise from my Lord. Sigh.]
What??? Lord, how can this possibly be? Surely that cup of coffee didn’t weigh that much?
(See My child, due to your disobedience your peace has evaporated! Do not weigh yourself again until I tell you! You remind Me of the Israelites! They gathered manna on the Sabbath and disobeyed my instructions! As a result maggots got in their manna! The result of your disobedience is frustration and confusion, ‘maggots’ to your peace! The peace and serenity you were just experiencing totally evaporated in the instant you stood on those scales and looked at that number. My child, you just had to learn the hard way this lesson about peace! Don’t you yet know that true peace comes from surrender and obedience? Now My child, the first number from your scales is your true weight, this second number is your lesson in obedience. My child, please stay away from those scales looking for your victory! Instead, look to Me for I am your victory!)
Yes Sir, I’m sorry that I disappointed You, my Lord!
(My child, you were full of My peace before you stood on those scales, but now you have the “bad taste” of disobedience in your mouth. Indeed, it is good that you learned this vivid lesson! Now My child, allow Me to guide every choice in your life, every detail. For I have plans for you, plans not to harm you or deprive you, but plans for a hope and a future of peace, encouragement, strength, and courage. My child, I plan to bless you with peace like a river!
But instead of peace you now have fear, fear of those scales! If only you had listened to Me and followed My instructions, then you would still be walking in peace! But alas, you had to walk in your own way so that you could learn yet another lesson in obedience! Now tell Me, what did you learn My child?)
I learned that through surrendering my will to You in obedience, I will gain peace and total victory. I also learned that when I follow “self”, I will gain frustration and fear.
(Then My child, this has turned out for your good, for you have learned well. I don’t like it that you had to suffer the consequences of your disobedience. I would have much rather you walked in peace and victory. But it pleases Me that you have gained this wisdom and understanding. Know this, your victory is here! Your victory is not determined by a certain number on some scales, yet the focus and attitude of your heart determines your victory. Which is better for you, My child, fear or peace?)
Oh definitely peace, My Lord!
(Then follow Me in peace My child, and I will drive the fear away! The scales are not your friend, I AM!)
