Commitment to Victory

Posted on by

Lord, I’m making a commitment to victory, 40 days of victory. Yes, I’ve lost 35 pounds, but I keep going up and down on the scales depending on what I eat each day. And yes, I’ve been sloppy with my eating, taking a few bites here and a few bites there. Overall, it’s always been small things.

Therefore this morning I’m coming to You Lord to ask for forgiveness and strength to resist temptation, even with so-called healthy foods.

Now I know no matter what weight loss program I’m on, I can’t succeed without You on my side helping me.

I need You Lord. I’m depending on You and Your strength just to get through each day, even with this easy program You led us to.

(Note to reader: It doesn’t matter what program you’re on, or what tools you use to succeed at losing weight. without God on your side, there is no power to succeed. for He is the greatest willpower of all. Only God can heal our bodies. No matter what program we use, it is only the power of God that can help us succeed in our personal victories.)

So I’m making a commitment to victory. I’m making a commitment for 40 days of eating my food in God’s Presence. When I’m eating, it will be in submission before God’s Presence. I’m making a commitment to seek His will over all my food. No longer will I eat on automatic, eating what I know is good. Now I will seek His will over every bite.

Didn’t the priests of long ago eat their food in the temple before God? Eli overate and became obese. Finally he fell and lost his position to another, Samuel.

I don’t want to lose my position in God’s Presence due to my food obsession. Therefore I want to eat what God gives me, in submission to His will. Also I realize my rebellion started first with my tea. I love my tea.

While cooking for my family for our Christmas gathering , 9 people including me, I drank tea as I cooked. I knew I needed my water. But I chose to drank tea instead just like those cooks on TV who drink their wine as they cook. I considered my tea as my wine while I cooked. So I chose to drink tea versus the water I knew I should drink. In fact, I preach to others, “Drink your water.”

It’s not that drinking tea is bad. But it’s the rebellion in my heart for I knew water is the best choice for my body. But I wanted the tea. So I had tea even though I knew I had not had sufficient water for the day.

Now I’m sitting here before God making a commitment to victory, my victory, the one God has already planned for me. (He has already planned for your victory too.) Today I’m starting a semi-fast for 40 days.

My 40 Day Commitment to Victory Plan:

  1. Water only (Except for My morning coffee.)
  2. I will eat only my “program food”.
  3. When eating my “lean and green” meal, I will stop eating when satisfied. This means no longer hungry, but not full or bloated. In my past I’ve eaten all that was allowed on my program just because I could. But not now.

It seems that food temptations always steal my victory. But with God on my side, not this time. Because of Him, I’m going to win my victory. With God on your side, you can win too.

FEED ON THIS

But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory . . . because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. 1John 4:4 NLT

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. I Corinthians 15:57 NKJV
