Our Present Troubles

“For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭4:17‬ ‭NLT

Lord, even though I ate only two meals today, (three, if You count the apple at breakfast), I gained 2 lbs. in one day. Now how could this be? I don’t understand. I’m so disappointed.

Our Present Troubles

40 Days of Victory
Day 23

Here I am eating correctly, and then gain weight. I haven’t had any desserts for 23 days, even through Thanksgiving and Christmas parties. None, not even one bite. Lord, what gives?

Child, even though you followed My instructions,  some of your portions were rather large. I suggest you cut them down in size. You could also choose to cut out starches. Definitely increase your water intake. Exercise too.

Lord, how do I know this is You and not me from all these years of struggling with my weight and dieting experiences? If I succeed at losing this regained weight, how can I say it was because of You and not in my own power?

Because Child, we both know you have no power to resist food temptations. You have already proven that by your past record. But now, even though it will require a fight, these food temptations will end.

You will win because of My power within you. I will fill you  with My power to say ‘No’ to foods not good for your body. Also I will provide you the power to say ‘Yes’ to foods that are good for your body.

Therefore you will know it is only through My power that you can win this war, this life-time struggle with food compulsion/addiction. But know this, My Child, you will win because I AM on your side. You will win. Expect your victory. Don’t look at what you see. Instead look at Me and I will see to it you win this victory. For I am Victory indeed! Even in our present troubles

Yes Sir. Thank you Sir.

Not Misplaced Blessings

Not Misplaced Blessings

See the leaf shaped placemats on my table.

Those missed placemats were not misplaced blessings. Instead they were blessings of victory. Let me share another conversation with My Lord. Then you’ll know how.

My Conversation With My Lord- Part Two

Lord, . . . do You mind if we talk about those placemats again? You obviously sent me there to that Thrift store and I held them in my hand. Yes, they were all bundled up with rubber bands, but I held them in my hands. So why didn’t I open them?

I’m looking at Romans 8:28. How’s this working out for my good? Was it punishment for overeating to much Cole-slaw or that one extra piece of catfish? Wait, . . . it was that one bite of Hubby’s pie?

Lord, I admit I took that bite without thinking. So are the missed placemats my punishment? What do You want me to learn from this?

Disobedience always costs. If not in punishment, then it costs in missed blessings. Was that it?

At this moment I don’t care about those placemats, I just want this feeling of intense regret to go away.

Not Misplaced Blessings

To begin with, disobedience will cause one to miss out on My blessings. But that was not this case. Now, let’s consider together the results of this supposed missed blessing.

First of all, you’ve learned to focus on My Presence. Second, now you know to look for and expect blessings. Now let’s examine what happened yesterday in your kitchen.

Uh. . . the granddaughters and I cooked some desserts for upcoming thanksgiving Day.

Yes, and how many desserts did you taste?

Uh . . . not one bite.

I see. As you looked at the placemats on your table, you remembered the pain. Didn’t you?

Yes Sir.

Now consider this. Those placemats are not missed blessings. Instead they are blessings of power and victory. They are visable reminders of your vow of 40 Days of Victory for you.

Yesterday you had victory while cooking all those desserts. Those placemats are helping provide you strength throughout your Thanksgiving family feast to resist all the temptations coming forth.

So now you can appreciate these placemats are indeed not misplaced blessings, but rather powerful strong blessings of victory. I sent them as gifts of power and strength to you, My child.

Thank you Lord, and please forgive all my doubts and whining. Help me to please You in all I do, say, and think. I give my life to You, my Savior, Jesus Christ.

Blessings of Victory

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them. Romans 8:28 NLT

My suffering was good for me, for it taught me to pay attention to Your decrees. Your instructions are more valuable to me than millions in gold and silver.      Psalm 119:71-72 NLT

But thanks be to God, who gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1Corinthians 15:57

Stop Overeating

If you will just stop overeating, you will lose weight.

But Lord, what do You mean?

If you will do as I told you before, eat three meals a day with half portions and no snacks, then you will lose weight.

Child, you want to lose weight, but I want to strengthen your spiritual listening skills. I want to make you strong. At this time you see yourself as weak, defeated, and a disappointment to Me.

Just as Gideon said he was the least of the least, you think the same about yourself because you are oppressed by your own personal Midianites.

But My child, I say to you, “O Mighty Warrior.”  Come out of hiding and come forth to your victory, the one I have already planned for you.

Child, every time you reach for extra food whether it’s a second serving, an excess serving, or a snack serving, you open the door for compulsive overeating. Child, this happens every time and you feel trapped in despair. You feel that you cannot stop overeating.

But My child, I have come forth to set you free. Just as I told Gideon, I’ll tell you, “I will be with you. You will defeat your personal Midianites.”

Lord, I won’t ask for a sign like Gideon did. I believe you.

Child, you will have a sign. As you listen to Me, follow My instructions, and eat in submission to My orders, then your scales will go down in number. This I promise you. In fact, I do not lie and I always keep My promises. Once I speak, they come forth.

Now I say to you, ‘Get up out of this hole you dug for yourself.

I have already given you victory for I am with you and I am Victory. Now go forth and walk in your personal victory.

But now I’m asking for help. Help me hold on and keep believing those scales will go down. Believe Continue reading

Defeat Your Giant

Posted on by

Defeat your giant. David defeated his giant, Goliath, and you can too. If he had considered the giant’s size, David would have been defeated before the battle started. But he knew the power of God was on his side. You do too. So go out and defeat your giant. God has already planned your victory! After all, He enjoys making His children victorious.Defeat Your Giant

So what does your giant look like? Does it seem an unachievable goal? Is it to get a better job? Or maybe it’s to get a job. How about, . . . is it to complete an overwhelming project?

I have a blog buddy, met online, Susie. Now this young lady (50) has defeated some giants. To begin with she’s a Christian from India. She studied to become a doctor. Later she and her husband accepted jobs in Qatar. Because of their location, she kept her identity hidden. But God opened doors. Now she is achieving her dream, taking medical courses at Yale. How’s that for defeating giants? You can read her posts at this link:  https://susieshy45.blog/2019/07/20/a-series-of-events-part-2/

We all have giants in our lives that seem impossible to us, in one form or another. But with God on our side, just like David and Susie, we all can overcome and defeat each one. God has placed a dream inside each of us. Now go for it and defeat your giant. For some of us obesity is a giant. As we stand in front of the mirror and look at what we see, our excess weight seems like a giant. As we stand on the scales and look at those numbers, the amount to lose looks enormous.

Goliath taunted the Israelites. How many times has those extra pounds taunted you? What about those tight clothes in the closet you used to wear?
Even more taunting are the food giants that so easily defeat us. We see them in our kitchens, at the drive-ups, and in our favorite restaurants.

Even relaxing in our homes watching television, what comes up? Taunting food commercials pop up and make us want to go buy it. But if it’s not convenient to buy now, you can buy it the next time you’re out.

Last November, 2018, my husband and I went to Israel. One of the places we got to visit was the Valley of Elah. This is where the battle between David and Goliath took place. It was inspiring to look at that valley where David killed Goliath.Valley of Elah

Rocks were everywhere, big huge ones, and little ones. David picked up five stones from the Valley of Elah. But I picked up many more and brought them back home. The tour guide gave permission.

Since I’m fighting the giant of obesity, I’ll use one stone per week on my kitchen counter to defeat my giant. Working on week one now.
