Lord, when I think about all the times that I stood before a cake, cookies, candy,or ice cream, shaking in my weakness, finally succumbing to give into my desires, I now realize that I gave those sweets power over me. Lord, could it be not the eating of those sweets but rather the surrendering myself to these overwhelming desires and therefore giving the sweets power over me that is the sin? Is this the actually of the sin, not the eating of said item but surrendering myself to the power of the temptation? Is that how it becomes an idol in my life? Because I gave it power over me?
Lord, I know that it is Your wish that we surrender our lives to You, surrender our control to Your control. Is that the ‘real’ problem, the ‘real’ sin of gluttony, that we surrendered our lives to man-made items like ‘junk’ food’?
(My child, I want you. I want to fill you with Myself. How can I, if you are distracted from My presence with the pleasures of this earthly world? I want my children to find pleasure in Me, for I hold more pleasure in My hand for them, more than any so-called pleasure that the world has to offer. I want My children to love Me, to commune with Me, to find pleasure in being with Me. I can give them more peace that any worldly pleasure.
People say that they overeat to help them deal with stress. If only they would come to Me, sit in My presence, and feed on My word, then I would give them all the strength they need to cope with the difficulties of their lives. If only My children would come to Me, then I would fill them with My presence and in this they would find true satisfaction.
Do they not know that pleasure from food is only for a moment that it is in their mouths, but I will give unto them joy unspeakable and full of glory throughout eternity! Tell my children to come to Me so that I may fill them with my joy!)
“…..Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in abundance. Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you…..” Isaiah 55:2-3 NKJV
“But she who lives in pleasure (indulgence) is dead while she lives.” I Timothy 5:6 NKJV
(My child, I offer unto you life and life more abundantly!)
…..I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10 NKJV
You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11 KNJV
